Minimum requirements include:
- A PhD in Microbiology/Biochemistry or any other relevant field
- A record of research income generation from research agencies/industry/investors
- Project management experience in developing biological products from a R&D phase
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Leadership and management skills
- Strong analytical capabilities
As Manager: Research & Innovation, your role will include developing an innovation process to generate microbial-derived products and services. Furthermore, you will:
- Implement strategically aligned initiatives, to establish collaborative linkages with national and international industries
- Build the research-capacity of the institute in the area of Microbial Biotechnology
- Translate project-based priorities into innovation activities and establish an intellectual property portfolio
- Source appropriate resources to support innovation and product development
- Interface with existing positions and projects in the institute
- Contribute to the day-to-day management of the IMBM and its strategic development
- Effectively communicate science and technological concepts to technical and non-technical audiences at multiple levels
