Minimum requirements include:

• A PhD in Microbiology/Biochemistry or any other relevant field
• A record of research income generation from research agencies/industry/investors
• Project management experience in developing biological products from a R&D phase
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Leadership and management skills
• Strong analytical capabilities

As Manager: Research & Innovation, your role will include developing an innovation process to generate microbial-derived products and services. Furthermore, you will:

• Implement strategically aligned initiatives, to establish collaborative linkages with national and international industries
• Build the research-capacity of the institute in the area of Microbial Biotechnology
• Translate project-based priorities into innovation activities and establish an intellectual property portfolio
• Source appropriate resources to support innovation and product development
• Interface with existing positions and projects in the institute
• Contribute to the day-to-day management of the IMBM and its strategic development
• Effectively communicate science and technological concepts to technical and non-technical audiences at multiple levels
