PhD position at the SARChI Research chair for pathogenic yeasts, Department of Microbiology and Biochemistry, University of the Free State
Aspiring PhD students in Microbiology or Biochemistry are invited to contact Prof Carlien Pohl regarding a project on the role of fungal infection in neuro-inflammation, using mice and zebrafish larvae. The project will be conducted in collaboration with the University of Exeter and the selected student must be willing to spend 12 months in the United Kingdom doing part of the research.
Minimum requirement: MSc in either Microbiology or Biochemistry with a final mark of at least 65%
Recommendation: Experience in handling or infecting of rodents or zebrafish will be advantageous
Bursary: The successful applicant must apply to the NRF for a PhD bursary or have other funds available to support himself/herself.
