Research Details- Bacterial genomics: In silico identification and systemic mutagenesis of virulence genes associated with biofilm formation in the SRE Pectobacterium carotovorum brasiliense (Pcb)
- Transcriptomic (RNA seq) and metabolic profiling of potato host defences in response to challenge by Pcb
- Differential gene expression profiling (using RNA seq) of Pcb during colonisation of a susceptible vs a tolerant cultivar.
Qualifications
Qualifying candidates with a strong Bioinformatics, Molecular Biology, Plant Sciences, Plant Pathology, Microbiology and/or Biochemistry background are encouraged to apply.
Value of Bursaries
Masters R60 000 p.a (2 years); PhD R100 000 p.a (3 years); Post Doc R200 000 p.a (2 – 3 years) depending on performance
